What do GloRilla and Skillet have in common?

Hi Reader,

This one’s for the woman who’s been told to pick a lane.

Or quiet down one part of herself to be taken seriously.

Let’s talk about that.

Affirmation

Say it with me:

I’m not a contradiction. I’m a rainbow, and I embrace every part of me.

Story Time

I Can Like Both ☺️

Sunday (Mother's Day) was beautiful.

But one of my favorite moments?

Driving to and from the movie theater, listening to old music that used to be on repeat during my teens.

You know that feeling when you hear a song that brings you back to your carefree self?

No bills, no deadlines—just windows down and music loud?

Anyway, in that moment, I realized something:

  • I love Christian rock.
  • And I love GloRilla.
  • I can worship to Hillsong and get hyped with Fireboy DML.
  • I love Avatar: The Last Airbender and bingeing Shark Tank.

And I’m not confused about any of it.

It’s not contradiction. It’s clarity.
That range? That blend? That’s my fingerprint.
It’s the spectrum of who I am.

Personal Brand Reflection

You're the Whole Spectrum 🌈

Yes, this short story is about music (and more).

But it’s also about your personal brand, your content, your voice.

We’ve been taught to simplify.
Pick a niche. Pick a tone.
Be palatable. Be “clear.”

But what if your clarity came from wholeness, not limitation?

What if your real power wasn’t in choosing one version of you,
But in showing how all your layers connect?

You don’t have to code-switch to be strategic.
You don’t need to hide the parts of you that don’t “match.”
You don’t have to shrink the loud, the soft, or the silly to be seen as an expert.

You’re not too much.
You’re the whole spectrum.
You’re the rainbow.

And the world?

It’s waiting to experience all of you.

So I have a question for you...

What parts of you have you been treating like contradictions when they’re actually your range?

In the next two weeks, pick one part of yourself you’ve been downplaying.
Let it show up!

Maybe you wear the color you love, not the one you think looks most "professional."
Maybe you talk about your industry uniquely -- in your voice, not the templated one.
Maybe it's simply not hiding it (whatever it is) from yourself anymore.

No announcement needed.
No big reveal required.

Just more you.
Showing up as
you.

Because that’s how you build a brand that stands out,
...and a life that actually feels like yours.

See you in two Tuesdays,

Tamara Sykes

Hi Reader, Before we go any further on this journey together, it’s time we redefine something important. 🎧 Listen to this newsletter Affirmation Say it with me: I’m not confused when I switch hairstyles. I’m not confused about being multi-hyphenate either. Story Time What's a Multi-Hyphenate Anyway? Great question, and one that I'm asked a lot in person. Since it happened again recently, I figured it's time for a reset. Because if you’re still wondering whether you “qualify” as a...

Hi Reader, If you’ve ever asked, “How do I turn what I believe into a personal brand?”—this one’s for you. 🎧 Listen to this newsletter Affirmation Say it with me: I already have something valuable to say. I just need to start saying it out loud. Story Time Recently on TikTok, I’ve had a few comments asking something along the lines of: “Okay, I know my core message. But how do I turn this into a personal brand?” It’s a good question. And I’ve been sitting with it. Because the truth is — I’ve...

Hi Reader This one’s for the versions of us we’ve outgrown—without shame, without regret. Just a reminder of what growth really looks like. 🎧 Listen to this newsletter Affirmation Say it with me: I can honor who I was and still embrace who I’m becoming. Story Time The Nails Weren’t the Problem A few years ago, during my regular nail salon trip, I asked for long, stiletto-shaped nails—the kind I used to love in my 20s. They looked amazing. But within a couple of days, I was fumbling through...
